Chapter Profile:
100 Black Men of Beaumont, Inc
100 Black Men of Beaumont, Inc is one of the organization's
newest chapters. During the two years since its beginning, the organization has
made a significant impact in its community; building strong partnerships with
community-based organizations, existing community programs and schools. With
only 32 members, this chapter has served almost 300 of its community's youth and
more than 100 adults.
The Beaumont chapter has developed and managed measurably
impacting programs in Mentoring, Education, Heath and Wellness and Economic
Development, clearly embracing the organization's Four for the Future
programmatic areas of interest.
As just one of its mentoring initiatives, the chapter
partnered with IEA (Inspire, Encourage, and Achieve) for its Ben's Kids outreach
program, IEA, a Southeast Texas-based organization created to positively impact
community children, designed this outreach initiative to enrich the lives of
young people that are on criminal probation in an effort to steer them away from
the criminal justice system.
The chapter's participation reached more than 170 youth
offenders between the ages of 12 and 17 and the chapter collectively provided
more than 250 hours mentoring participants.
The Beaumont chapter puts a strong emphasis upon economic
development through partnerships with the well-known Habitat for Humanity as
well as the City of Beaumont Community Development Department. Through Habitat
for Humanity, the chapter spent more than 300 hours supporting low-income
families and through partnership with the Beaumont Community Development
Department, 33 low-income families received education on financial planning and
assistance with home ownership.
Twenty-five members participated in the chapter's
educational initiative, Campus Volunteer Projects. In partnership with the
French and Blanchette Elementary Schools, the chapter spent 775 hours impacting
384 students. In addition, the chapter held three health fairs throughout the
year, providing almost 500 community participants with healthcare screenings,
access to services, and education. This chapter has received numerous public
accolades of appreciation from many of its partners. Some of these include:
tributes from Habitat for Humanity, South East Texas Food Bank, Ben's Kids
Brighter Futures Mentor Training, and IEA.
